My young son was admitted to altnagelvin A&E on Saturday afternoon into resus after quick response from nurse in western urgent care who realise he needed urgent medical care.
Doctors and nurses quickly in A& E obtained the bloods they needed and he was transfered up to ward 6 where he was diagnosed as insulin dependent diabetic. My son also has autism and Von Willierbrands disease. I can’t thank the diabetic consultant, diabetic team, doctors ward 6, nursing staff, Dietician team and all the wider team on ward 6 who supported us the past few days and helped us come to terms with this life long condition.
As a parent this is so hard to deal with but all your hard work and excellent care given to us has been amazing and you have given is the confidence to take our son home. We have a lot of learning ahead but with the support of ward 6 and wider diabetic team we know we are not alone in dealing with this life changing event
"we know we are not alone"
