I very much appreciate the good care I have received from my GP and would highly recommend him but the failure of the admin systems at this surgery are adding a considerable amount of stress to managing my various health conditions, to the extent that it is impacting my mental health and i am putting off making necessary appointments because I can't face the stress of it. It has taken me weeks to get a prescription purely because it was mistakenly taken off my repeats. Over that time, I visited reception several times in person and made multiple phonecalls. Each time I was either told it had been resolved for me and the request made, only to discover it hadn't, or that I'd need to come back/call back another time, or that I needed a medication review even though I'd just had one, or that the previous person shouldn't have said I could have it and I'd have to book a GP appointment to talk about it, when I had run out of my medication. As their online system was down this was impossible as by the time you got through on the phone all appointments were gone. When I was finally issued my prescription I was told that it has also been added back onto my repeats so I wouldn't have to worry next time. It has not been. When I contacted to ask if it could please be added to my repeats, as promised, so I won't have to do this all again next time, I was just told that my prescription had been issued, which isn't even what I had asked. This is just one example out of many. Even without these issues, as a neurodivergent person it is hard to manage my medications and appointments, with these issues, it is impacting my mental health and also my work life, as I am having to spend so much of my working day calling, visiting, making unnecessary appointments on top of the ones I actually need etc. I am so very grateful for the NHS, I really am, and I know everyone is working under immense pressure after successive governments have failed them but I am really struggling with this and I can't imagine how much harder it is for someone else with greater accessibility needs than my own.
