"Waiting for assessment"

About: Mental Health / Community Adult Mental Health Services Royal Cornhill Hospital / Adult mental health

(as a service user),

Waiting 2 and a half years now, feels never ending. Wish they could give us updates or something.

I worry that I’m somehow not even on the list anymore as I haven’t heard anything for a long time.

Dear Avocetmb97,

thank you for posting to Care Opinion, we appreciate all views and feedback, I am responding on behalf of Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership where we are pleased to share that we have had an, albeit limited ADHD assessment service, for one year now. This however is not a funded service and we are unable to expand to the size needed to further reduce the considerable wait you and all others on our waitlist are experiencing. We do not underestimate the impact such a wait can have. As this is an unfunded service, routine updates are a challenge too. We do however advice all that if there are clinical changes while on the list you should seek review by your GP in the first instance who can contact our service.
We remain in close communication with Scottish government to highlight the need for additional funding in the many areas of Neurodivergent assessment and treatment.
