"Out of Hours Service"

About: Adult Health & Support Services / Primary Care Out of Hours

(as a parent/guardian),

I phoned 111 due to concerns with my son's breathing. My son was given an appointment to attend Douglas Street within 2 hours of calling. As soon as we arrived and were assessed, it was deemed that my son had to be admitted to hospital. The ambulance arrived to transport us there within 10 minutes.

All of this happened on a Sunday evening, and I was expecting to be waiting a lot longer than this due to the ongoing pressures on the NHS. All staff encountered, from the call handlers, the reception staff, the health care support workers and the nurses were all very caring and showed a lot of compassion and empathy during a very stressful and anxious time.

They made myself and my son feel at ease and made such a positive impact on our experience. Thank you.

Good afternoon Kaze88x

Thank you so much for taking the time to post on Care Opinion about your positive experience you had when you brought your unwell son for an appointment at the Primary Care Out of Hours service and were then transferred by ambulance to the Emergency Department.

I will pass on your lovely comments to the team who will be grateful that the care they gave your son was appreciated.

I hope your son is now recovering well.

Take care, Pamela.
