I was so anxious about attending hospital for general anaesthetic and surgery, but the staff within the Day Bed Ward, Theatre Staff, Surgeon and Anaesthetist at Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline really put me at ease.
They explained everything fully in terms of what to expect and how I would feel following surgery. I felt listened to and treated as an individual, not just another patient. I was kept fully informed throughout the day and felt so well cared for.
The surgeon and anaesthetist checked in on me at the end of the day and the day bed staff were doing their regular checks of my temperature and blood pressure. I was kept fully informed of any medication they recommended and the times and side effects so I could make an informed decision.
They day bed staff were kept very busy all day and I watched as their shift went on, as their hair become more and more dishevelled as the day went on. Despite this, they remained attentive and so very friendly towards me. Nothing was a problem.
I can’t speak highly enough of these people. They made a very anxious patient feel so at ease and so well looked after. They truly were angels sent from heaven for me that day. I would like to thank each and every one of them for all they did for me.
"I can’t speak highly enough of these people"
