"Provide absolutely faultless care to those in need"

About: NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance Victoria Hospital / Admissions Unit 1 (Emergency Medical)

(as a relative),

My 82 year old gran was admitted to Au1 in Victoria hospital Kirkcaldy.

Every service from the initial NHS 24 call, non emergency ambulance paramedics that arrived to take my gran into hospital and all staff in Au1 have provided excellent care to my gran.

The care my gran received whilst in Au1 has been immeasurable with a special shout out to Tabona, Dee, Cara and Jen. My gran was delirious upon admission and is normally alert and orientated. They helped to show my gran kindness and compassion and patience. They went over and above to make sure she was cared for and calmed her down when upset.

They kept me informed through every step of her care, despite being an incredibly busy admissions unit. They helped to get the frailty team involved (Louise who was excellent) and the dieticians involved for her weight loss. From the second she was admitted to the second she was moved to ward 41 their level of care they provided to my gran was excellent.

This admissions unit often doesn't get the credit and recognition they deserve. The staff work relentlessly hard and still have a smile on their face and able to provide absolutely faultless care to those in need.

Dear velakk89,

Many thanks for taking the time to share your feedback here on CareOpinion. I reply on behalf of the Scottish Ambulance Service. I echo Laura's sentiments above and am sorry to read about your gran's recent ill health and I do hope that she is feeling better. Likewise, I'm really delighted to hear that she received such excellent care. It is great to hear positive stories about the work our wonderful staff and partners provide and I'm sure all staff involved will be thrilled to hear such glowing feedback.

If you wish I can pass on the feedback to the paramedics directly. To do so we would need to know the date, time and address that the Ambulance attended and the patient's name. This information can be sent to sas.feedback@nhs.scot for the team to pick up. If you do decide to do this, would you be so kind as to make reference to your CareOpinion username so that the team can easily locate your story and share it with the crew.

I wish you and your gran all the very best and thanks again.

Kind Regards

Marie,

Patient Experience Manager

Dear velakk89,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on care opinion.

As the Senior charge nurse in Admissions unit 1, I am so pleased to hear about the kind and compassionate care my team delivered to your gran. I am glad the staff helped to reassure your gran and make her feel safe and that you were kept informed at all times during what I'm sure was a worrying time.

I will also let Tabona, Dee, Cara and Jen know of this lovely feedback as I know it will mean a lot to them.

I hope your gran is on the mend and recovering well.

Kind regards,

Christina
