"Care, respect and professionalism"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Accident & Emergency Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a service user),

I am suffering from a cold/ flu type infection. I felt I was going to pass out and my heart was 124. As I have cardiac issues, I  called an ambulance. The paramedics done an ECG that showed an anomaly in my heart beat and after several more checks I  was taken to A&E at the Royal Infirmary.

Another ECG was done, and I was taken to a treatment pod, where I saw a Dr who talked me through what happened, examined me and arranged for blood tests. I  was offered a drink and sandwich while waiting for the results.

The Dr spoke to me about the results and said that due to the level of Traponin in the sample that a 2nd test should be done. When the results came back, she informed me that the tests were in line with my previous tests, and that this episode was attributed  to the infection I have, but she said that should this happen when I was clear of the infection that I should see my GP or come to A&E immediately.

I cannot thank the Paramedics, Doctors, Nurses and all the staff involved in my care. I truly appreciate the care, respect and professionalism shown by them all, especially as they  are so extremely busy just now. I do not know what we would do without all of you.

Dear irregularityrn34,

I would like to express my gratitude on behalf of the Scottish Ambulance Service for taking the time to share your feedback. I am so sorry to hear that you were unwell and I do hope that you are feeling better. It is great to hear positive stories about the work our wonderful staff and partners provide. I'm especially pleased to hear that you received such great person centred care, respect and professionalism, as this is what we strive to achieve.

As Ray and Michelle have mentioned our staff will be really pleased to hear such positive feedback. If you wish I can pass on the feedback to the paramedics directly. To do so we would need to know the date, time and address that the Ambulance attended and your name. This information can be sent to sas.feedback@nhs.scot for the team to pick up. If you do decide to do this, would you be so kind as to make reference to your CareOpinion username so that the team can easily locate your story and share it with the crew.

I wish you all the very best and thanks again.

Kind Regards

Marie,

Patient Experience Manager
