"Lack of help and advice, substandard care"

About: Hull Royal Infirmary / Gastroenterology

(as a service user),

Admitted for one night, told if bloods had improved, I could go home.

Staff on admittance were wonderful.

The attitude of 2 staff who came to take bloods was horrible, I feel they made sarcastic comments about my condition, which is terrible when you are feeling low and already have MH conditions.

Given no advice on leaving about how to help my condition, Dr just said eat 4 small meals a day, nothing about what diet I have to follow for the future, or what I should or should not eat. I feel a booklet should have been given to help, but was not.

Told at 1 follow up appointment that I would be seen every 3 months, no advice given, about how to self-help in the future, I had no idea what my condition meant, so how would I know what to ask.

6 months later and no appointment, was seen only then by a nurse following advice from a charity and got advice about diet 10 months later after talking to a nurse who works for same charity.

14 Months 1 appointment to see a Dr, and the appointment I was supposed to have got cancelled after 18 weeks, got a text to ask If I still want an appointment, answered yes, checked the NHS app and this has been wiped off!

My GP have been no help, ask for help, get referred back to the hospital, it's a joke.

Yes, I have seen the nurse a couple of times, but I have found them to lack empathy and to be judgemental, this person told me appointment every 3 months, no it was 5!  I would add that a nurse is not a replacement for a doctor, and as they said 3 different nurses can tell you 3 different things, which has already been proven correct after they gave me different advice about diet.
