Future plans

Being listened to

Being given time

Seeing the whole me
I have had challenges throughout my life through Bipolar disorder and recently lost my job through mental health difficulties at work. This was the first time in my life I had been out of work - I am in my 60's. I was devastated and felt pointless and useless, and feared for what my future would hold for myself and my family. My CPN suggested I speak to an Employment Adviser at Gedling LMHT (Nottinghamshire County South)
When I first me Stephanie I immediately felt I could be open and honest with her about what had happened and she understood the impact of losing my job, and my career, had on me. Through very regular meetings, a lot of tears, constant support and reassurance I was able to get a part time job in the sector I was passionate about.
She acknowledged what I had been through and didn't dismiss the impact of it. Step by step we rebuilt my confidence. When we first met I couldn't even speak the word 'employment' or 'job' and I was extremely distressed. We looked at my CV and how to promote what I had to offer. We looked at potential different industries to work in. But the most important thing of all was building up my mental health to a place where I felt I was valued and could still contribute to society. She held my hand throughout the application process for my new job and was there on the day of the interview if I needed reassurance. I was successful and she is now supporting me through the first 6 months of the job in case I wobble. I honestly do not know where I would be without this support. I am back in the world of work, making a contribution to society and have the confidence to feel proud of myself again. Thank you Steph.
