"Quality of care received in DESU"

I attended DESU at Altnagelvin Hospital on 11/12/2024 for elective surgery.  Renovation works were being carried out and the nurse (Pauline) that came to bring me into the unit apologised for any inconvenience this might cause, however the works did not have any impact on my care at all.  

This was my first General Anaesthetic and I was a bit nervous but the staff were so kind and reassuring to me so I felt very safe,  

The unit was spotlessly clean and tidy and very well organised.  Although it  was busy the staff were very attentive, talking me through what would happen at all stages and readily answered my questions.  

I received my operation with minimal fuss and felt that the care I received was first class.  I was happily home at 6pm that day.

I would like to thank the staff that treated me, Dr Prendergast, Pauline, Jan, Veroni, the anaesthetist ( I forget his name but he used to live in Spain) and the nurse in charge from theatres ( I didn't catch her name but she had a lovely sense of humour!).
