"Accident in the home"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Accident & Emergency Crosshouse Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics Crosshouse Hospital / Xrays & Scans

(as the patient),

I was in trouble having fallen in the kitchen, impaling my arm on a cupboard handle and was unable to get up...Bleeding heavily.

I pressed my red button and responders came to my rescue.

They sent for an ambulance which came within the hour.

Once at Crosshouse hospital s AnE department I was triaged and passed on quite quickly to Nurse Practitioner. She was very kind and caring, but not able to sort the problem. She took me to xray but in the end I apparently needed an Orthopedic surgeon to stitch the open wound which was down to the bone.  He did a wonderful job of sewing up the wound which has now healed beautifully.

I want to thank all involved for my care but not sure of names. The surgeon I think was Mr Khan, but sadly the nurses name alludes me a and she could not have done more for me.. from arrival to bringing me to the door on my way home.

To Everyone along the way. And all on that shift in December. Thank you so VERY MUCH..

Dear robinsg74

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to share this lovely feedback about the care provided by the staff within the Emergency Department, University Hospital Crosshouse.

I am sorry to hear that you needed to be taken into hospital following a fall at home which resulted in such a nasty injury to your arm. I can only imagine how scary and upsetting this must have been for you. However, it is reassuring to know that you received such prompt, professional and compassionate care from our staff.

Our staff really appreciate receiving feedback from their patients, and it will be my pleasure to share your kind comments with the wider Team in the Emergency Department and also with Dr Khan. I know they will all be delighted to receive this feedback and to know that you felt so well supported whilst you were under their care

Please accept my best wishes for your ongoing recovery and thank you once again for taking the time to acknowledge your care experience.

Kind Regards

Pamela
