I was very frightened at the beginning of this journey because I had never been in hospital before. I expected the worst and didn’t know quite what was going to happen. However, my worries were unnecessary - my treatment here has been excellent.
My cancer was discovered when I was on holiday abroad. It was stomach cancer - it was touching the liver so we decided to come back to Scotland to have the treatment. First of all there were scans at PRI and then Ninewells. Then there was a stoma fitted and a couple of weeks later radiotherapy treatment was started - I have had 14 sessions so far. I also take chemo tablets at home on the days I am having radiotherapy.
We have no car now since retirement so transport from Perth to Dundee would have been a problem. However I am very thankful indeed that transport has been organised for me from the Hub and this makes a huge difference. Also, I am an early bird and appreciate very much that most of my appointments are in the mornings - I can be home by 2.00pm - so have the rest of the day for my hobbies.
I can’t think of any improvements that can be made here. The staff are very friendly and helpful and sort out any problems you might have. It all works like clockwork.
My only issue would be with the heating. Because of my condition I feel the cold more than most and I find the reception area to be quite chilly. However, I keep my coat on..........
