My husband collapsed in the bathroom last month. The ambulance came in half an hour and had to wait outside A&E for about an hour. This was the only worrying bit. The rest of his treatment and indeed the paramedics in the ambulance were all excellent and comforting. He was sent home after 3 days with blood thinning tablets and the knowledge that he had atrial fibrillation which had caused the blood clot.
We have had an appointment with the Stroke nurse at Biggart and this too was extremely helpful and encouraging. There will be a phone appointment with his GP. All in all NHS Ayrshire and particularly Crosshouse were wonderful.
