"Breast screening service"

About: Royal Berkshire Hospital

(as the patient),

Following a routine mammogram I was contacted by telephone by the breast care nurse who advised me that I need a repeat mammogram as there were difference seen compared to my previous mammogram. I was told I would need a consultation, an ultrasound and a biopsy, all my queries were answered.

I attended and underwent repeat mammogram, consultation, ultrasound and biopsy. I was given an appointment for my biopsy results.  Throughout two of the worst weeks in my life I received compassionate care and understanding from the breast care team, who were without exception caring, professional and understanding.

I was seen promptly for all my appointments, treated with dignity and respect. I attended for my results, which showed fibroadenoma and given the all clear. I immediately burst into tears with relief and again was treated with compassion and respect.  This unit is a testament to our healthcare system in my opinion, thank you for your care and treatment.
