"Excellent Service"

So often nowadays one hears about the broken NHS and the many negative attitudes towards the implementation of a national health service.  Whilst there may be much truth in the apparent dire straits of the NHS and wider community care, my experience has been altogether quite positive. 

I and my family have been patients at our local GP practice -  Beckington Family Practice, Frome -  for many years and almost without fail they have delivered a first class service; I include not only the excellent GPs but also the nursing and administrative staffs. 

I can see that the Practice is extremely well led and resourced with highly motivated individuals delivering a service in a thoroughly professional and interpersonal manner. I am aware of the strains and pressures that a vast number of patients can impose on the NHS frontline especially during demanding times of the year. Beckington administrative staffs have always done their utmost to try and sort issues in a timely and satisfactory manner - whether a medical appointment with a GP, a letter of authority for an insurance company or a blood test, nothing is too much trouble. The Practice is resourced by friendly and helpful individuals who, despite pressures, deliver a level of service that is, in my opinion, second to none. 

My most recent visit to the Practice typifies this level of service.  I had a rather interesting symptom that could have been quite serious; within 6 hours I had an appointment with Dr Tippin who immediately prescribed a blood test that was completed by adjacent hospital staffs within 45 minutes before being reviewed by Dr Tippin in my presence.  His manner, professionalism and complete can-do attitude is an example of how well Beckington Practice is both resourced and motivated to deliver a service which may be the envy of many GP practices. 

When there is a need to comment about a service (especially within the press) we need to ensure that there is balance in how we assess issues.  I hope that my comment not only gives a positive but honest view but also demonstrates my gratitude for all those at Beckington Family Practice who try to serve our best interests. So from me, a very big thank you.
