My 15 year old daughter was admitted to PICU Royal Hospital for Children from A&E with what was later confirmed to be meningitis. My daughter spent 4 days in PICU, the nurses and doctors who looked after her during that time were amazing, the compassion and care given to her was exceptional, she had so many investigations and medications which were all explained to us every step of the way.
In what was a traumatic ordeal for myself and her dad, the nurses really helped to reassure us and answer any questions we had, the support we had from all the nurses involved in her care, Kat and Lexie (sincere apologies for forgetting all names) we will be eternally grateful for.
My daughter was then transferred to ward 2b for the next 7 days, again the care received on the ward was fantastic during a worrying time for us all. Dr Longbottom was wonderful and ensured every possible avenue was covered, arranging MRI scans and visits to Audiology. The time you spent with my daughter, listening to her and my own concerns and explaining treatment plans and test results with your caring gentle manner was very much appreciated.
Cheryl, Hilda and Niamh as well as all the other nurses and doctors involved in her care made her stay a little less gloomy with your cheery smiles and stories
Thankfully she is well on the road to full recovery and we are so grateful to each and every one of you
