"Caring for our twins like their own"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Neonatal Unit

(as a parent/guardian),

After having twins born at 29 weeks in the Royal Jubilee Maternity Hospital, we got transferred to Craigavon Neonatal Unit when they were two and a half weeks old. We felt anxious to begin with, as we had just gotten used to the ways of the Royal, but after a couple of days, our minds were put at ease by the level of care we started to see our twins receiving in Craigavon.

The staff not only paid close attention to the twins cares and needs, but they also made sure to take care of us as the parents. There were so many days of worries, sleepless nights and tears shed. The staff always took the time to speak with us, get to know us and the Grandparents, and they really did become like family to us. We spent four months in neonatal, and it was the staff who helped get us through it.

Everyone has their individual talents and these were shown daily to us. We would like to give Donal a special mention. From the first day we were in Craigavon, Donal became a really good friend to us. For the Dads going through the neonatal journey, he is a great support and someone they can really bond with.

For the Mums going through the neonatal journey, Donal has a way about him - that no matter how down you are feeling when sitting there watching the world go by, he will do his best to cheer you up. The care he showed to our miracle twins really was exceptional and we will be forever grateful.

No matter how difficult things got for us during the neonatal journey, we always knew that the staff of the Craigavon Neonatal Unit were caring for our twins like they were their own.

Good morning 2024

Your feedback on your experience of your time in Neonatal reflects the values of family integrated care that we endeavor to achieve. Having staff to reassure you, put you at ease and support you all, on your journey, hopefully made you stay and experience a positive one. It is never easy moving hospitals and getting used to a new team of faces

I will share your feedback with our team ( to include Donal) and thank you for taking time to post your thoughts

I hope all is going well for you all at home

Regards

Una
