"Staff are kindness itself"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Acute medical admissions (AMU) Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Cardiology

(as a service user),

After becoming very unwell I went to AMU via A and E. Looked after very well by staff but AMU ward dirty and very cramped plus bathroom not fit for purpose. Very depressing. Finally got to cardiac ward which was super where I was monitored for 8 days before being given a date for a pacemaker to be fitted.

The day of the pacemaker op was brilliant. Very slick, kind and professional. I can not thank the staff enough for their help, compassion and skill.

It may feel for the poor staff that they are climbing a mountain every shift but they don’t let it show and are kindness itself. Thank you all so much.

I am glad to hear you were well looked after by the staff on AMU. I do apologise that you found the ward dirty. I will make sure I have a look into this. Unfortunately, you are right, we have limited space on the unit.

I am glad you got the pacemaker op within good time and wish you a speedy recovery.

Dear Bionic Lady,

Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay on AMU before being moved to a cardiac ward. We are grateful you have shared your experience with us.

Sometimes working in the NHS can be challenging for all staff groups as every member always makes their best endeavours to serve and provide the best patient care possible. Due to the urgent care required on AMU it is always an extremely busy and full area thereby making the cleaning very difficult to keep on top of. Therefore not all expectations can be met all the times but the staff strive very hard to try and achieve it as best as they can.

Your feedback will make a big difference to all of the staff who facilitated your stay and helped to provide the best care for you and I will pass your feedback on to my team.

Thank you again.

Kind regards

Judith Foley-Herbert

Domestic Services Manager
