"No response from reproductive department"

About: St Mary's Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I was diagnosed with cancer in 2020 (during lockdown), my GP has confirmed I’m now in the menopause and I am really struggling with a very wide range of menopause related issues. It is affecting my whole life, including my work.

My GP surgery referred me to St Mary’s and I had a telephone consultation. The healthcare professional I spoke to is now on sabbatical, but St Mary’s didn’t tell me this - I found this out when I began to chase the decision. I’ve received a wide range of reasons as to why I haven’t had a decision and if I’m honest, this experience is far worse than being treated for cancer during lockdown.

My GP surgery won’t prescribe HRT without sign off from St Mary’s and I find the fact they haven’t made a decision appalling. I’ve been told the MDT meeting hasn’t happened, then it has. Then they don’t know the update. Then the update is that the Dr who attended only works two days a week and I now have to wait for them to go back to work.

I don’t know what more I can do. I have scanned and re-sent (having already sent the documents to the person now on sabbatical) my cancer documents which is traumatic to have to look at these documents again. I have rung and chased, no one from St Mary’s (except one of the receptionists) has called me back. My GP surgery has chased a decision.

I am suffering daily because of St Mary’s and their lack of care towards me. Their patient care has been utterly appalling. My next step is to email the MP for health to see if they can offer any support.
