"Leaflets in waiting room"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Gynaecology

(as a service user),

Staff are very lovely and put me at ease.

But I was very disappointed to see lots of acupuncture leaflets in the waiting room with claims that it can help with fertility.

I feel these leaflets are preying on desperate people by claiming these treatments help with fertility.

I don't think there should be anything advertised that isn’t recommended by NICE. Women with PCOS are already bombarded by adverts claiming to offer cures, and I don't think this should happen in an NHS healthcare setting.

Dear severityje83,

Firstly I apologise for not replying sooner but I have taken some time to look into this.

Thank you for your comments on the service. We are delighted to hear your positive comments regarding the fertility team and I will certainly feed that back to them.

We value all patient feedback and have carefully considered your comments about the acupuncture leaflets in the waiting room. Whilst some of our patients have found benefit from acupuncture, we have decided to remove these in response to your comments.

Thank you again for taking the time to feedback to us.

Best wishes

Bridget
