"Postoperative care"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / General Surgery

(as a service user),

After surgery for hiatus hernia and nissen fundoplication the nursing care was dreadful. Not the staff's fault, just not enough of them.

I received hardly any information as to what I should eat or not eat, was given a disgusting drink of what seemed to be Bovril, had not had any food for almost two days.

I looked up information from an English NHS trust, which had extensive information re diet, starting from week 1 onwards.

Truly awful experience.

Dear Betadb34,

I am so sorry that you had such a poor experience whilst undergoing your abdominal surgery. I would like to be able to help you and wonder if you would get in touch with me, linda.carmichael@nhs.scot, so I can pass your comments on to the appropriate area.

I hope you are recovering and feeling better,

warmest regards

Linda
