My partner was very ill for a number of days. We were doing everything to avoid ringing his GP because they have a poor reputation for not seeing patients.
On day four of his illness his temperatures were uncontrollable and he was developing a rash. We called the GP and as suspected were told he couldn’t be seen and to go to A&E. I waited until out of hours opened as being a medical professional myself I knew this would be easily solved if he could just be assessed by a GP.
From ringing out of hours, we had an appointment slot, seen straight away and out with a diagnosis and medication within an hour of the first call. A fantastic service from start to finish. It’s just says a lot about his GP practice. He couldn’t even get past the receptionist. Emergency care is the only place people can turn to therefore causing the service massive strain. Thank you again to out of hours GP SWAH.
