"Emergency Stairlift Installation"

About: Rutherglen & Cambuslang Locality Support Service / ICST (Community Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy) Rutherglen & Cambuslang

(as a service user),

My mum came out of hospital with a life limiting illness.  She lives in a house with stairs.

The hospital's OT team wanted her to live in her dining room in a hospital bed with a commode and a basin.  That was unacceptable to us.

With help from Myra from the Rutherglen Occupational Therapy team we were able to fast-track approval for a stairlift so that she could live a close to normal life in her own home.  The stairlift was approved and fitted within weeks of Myra's home visit.

We had been told repeatedly that even if she was approved that we would be as well to fund it ourselves as it would take months or even years so we are very happy with this result and I am very pleased to be leaving this positive feedback today.

Dear equuleuscr78, many thanks for taking the time to provide such valuable feedback. It is so helpful to see where a person-centred approach to each individual situation yields the most positive results.

We sincerely hope your mum is coping well and enjoying some time with family. The feedback helps us to make sure we are working to the highest standards. Can I check please which hospital your mum was in before being discharged?

Wishing you well

Dear Equuleuscr78

Many thanks for taking the time to give feedback on your experience. I am happy to hear that your mums quality of life has improved with the provision of a stair lift and that it was approved and fitted efficiently. Myra is one of our occupational therapy colleagues based with the Cambuslang and Rutherglen social work team. I have shared your positive feedback with her line manager.

All the very best going forward.

Kind regards
