Having previously had a traumatic and poor experience elsewhere in the area when I fell pregnant this time I chose to attend PRM.
As I was ‘red pathway’ due to previous complications I attended two antenatal consultations with my consultant Dr McBride. I cannot tell you how reassuring Dr McBride was from start to finish and she booked me in for an induction on a date when she was working. She even popped in to see me when I was in labour and immediately after the birth. No question was too silly, I was never rushed by her and I felt she genuinely wanted the best experience for me second time round.
On admission I was on ward 72 for my induction. The midwife caring for me that night, Angela, was a godsend. Explained the whole process really well and was checking in constantly.
The following morning I was taken down to labour suite where I met my midwife Jess who subsequently delivered our baby. What an angel Jess is. She made sure I was comfy from start to finish and was constantly reassuring me. She found a Bluetooth speaker and light projector and despite my main fears of being ‘high risk’ I didn’t feel like I was treated as such. I believe Jess is fairly new to the midwifery profession and what a credit she is to the team at PRM.
Although I’ve only named two in particular, I could go on for hours but there was not a single member of staff who could not do more for me and the other patients on the postnatal ward 68.
I just want to say thank you so much to all the staff at PRM for their help and making my second pregnancy birth experience an extremely positive one!
