"First Childbirth in UK"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Ward C2 Maternity care

(as other),

I work in the Trust and I have never been so proud of the job that we’ve been doing. This time, we’re the receiving end of patient care as my wife had our first childbirth in the UK. My wife had previous history of postpartum haemorrhage with our youngest and to say we were worried and anxious are understatement but with the excellent communication skills and care given to us by midwife Orla and the ward sister in the neonatal care unit in Antrim Area Hospital when my wife’s labor was induced, it was truly a touching moment for us. We are truly grateful beyond words and it brought me such pride how workers like me are touching the lives of the people under our care. I can’t wait to wear my uniform again after my paternity leave because of such fantastic experience. Kudos to all staff in Maternity Unit who have been working non-stop to provide the highest quality of care. God bless to all.

Good Morning

My name is Helen weir and I am the Interim Head of Service for Maternity and Gynae/Deputy Head of Midwifery.

Congratulations on the birth of your baby and thank you so much for taking the time to give us the feedback above. Orla is a very caring and compassionate midwife who will be delighted to receive your lovely compliment. I will ensure this is shared with her.

I hope you are enjoying your paternity leave although I am sure you are very busy with home life.

Once again congratulations and thank you

Helen
