"A lifesaving service"

About: Adult Health & Support Services / Primary Care Out of Hours NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) Scottish Ambulance Service / Patient Transport Service University Hospital Hairmyres / General Surgery (Ward 5)

(as a service user),

I would like to say thank you to the staff who cared for me when I attended the Hamilton OOT on the 17th December with extreme abdominal issues.

I was welcomed and seen by the care team very quickly. The waiting environment was busy although with a professional and calm atmosphere.

The transport service was so very much appreciated as I could not drive, and my father was not able to pay for a return taxi from East Kilbride to Hamilton.

I was thoroughly assessed and was so grateful to have been advised by staff to attend the Hospital for further analysis via CT scan as it had then been found I had a ruptured appendix.

I received surgery within 24 hours and spent 4days in Hairmyres Hospital.

I am so grateful and impressed by the prompt services provided since my first call to 111 at 6pm to then be In transportation to a healthcare facility and seen by staff by 8.30pm.

A lifesaving service, thank you all so very much.

Dear hdhvelayd93,

Many thanks for taking the time to share your feedback here on CareOpinion. I am so sorry to read about what happened to you, that sounds terrifying. I hope that you are feeling better. It is great to hear positive stories about the work our wonderful staff provide.

If you wish I can pass on the feedback to the crew directly. To do so we would need to know the date, time and address that the Ambulance attended and your name. This information can be sent to sas.feedback@nhs.scot for the team to pick up. If you do decide to do this, would you be so kind as to make reference to your CareOpinion username so that the team can easily locate your story and share it with the crew.

I wish you all the very best with a very happy new year and thanks again.

Kind Regards

Alan

Update posted by hdhvelayd93 (a service user)

Thank you all so much for your well wishes, I am doing well and delighted to share my experience, knowing the care team will receive this positive feedback.

I was transported via a local taxi service from East Kilbride, which again is a wonderful service to provide as to not use valuable resources such as the ambulance services which are needed for the most urgent medical care.

All the best for the new year to the care team and wider medical services.
