"Waiting times at A&E"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Accident & Emergency

(as a relative),

My dad has dementia and had blood in his urine so my mum wanted him checked out. We had to wait 7 hours in A&E to be put in a cubicle and a further 1 hour 30 mins to be seen.

This is far too long for someone with dementia. During our wait my dad got agitated and disruptive in the waiting area. He also soiled his trousers and underwear.  I made the reception staff aware of this and no action was taken.

Dear DM78,

I am sorry to hear of your Dad's experience whilst visiting our emergency department. Unfortunately we are experiencing longer waits than normal. If you would like me to review this and provide further detail please email me on fiona.mccracken@ggc.scot.nhs.uk.

Many thanks.
