Taken to a&e after fall and lay all nite on floor of my home.... neighbour raised alarm by ringing my family ....they came and with help of my neighbour got me up onto chair... family rang for ambulance 999 which came within an hr....staff on phone were very good and helpful with advice if a b or c happened....crew came 2 female checked me over really well and with help from my family were able to get all the information they needed ...so off I went to A&E
Ambulance crew handed me over to nursing staff in a very crowded corridor.... I was changed over to a chair so crew could go out again.
My family took it in turns to stay with me as I wasn't able they felt to be left alone
Moved to Majors part where I was met with what looked like a war zone.... people sitting everywhere it was unbelievable only we'd witness it ourselves I'd never have believed.
Drunk people/ overdoses/ suicidal people all together in this small space it was scary to be honest
So I'd bloods x-ray done more bloods done to be told I had an infection somewhere....I was started on iv antibiotics to cover a wide spectrum of infection.... infection markers were high....
I can only say that if my family didn't stay with me I don't know what would have happened to me....they were my voice!!
So after 42hrs sitting on a chair surrounded by god knows what I was handed over to Home Care Team got home where they looked after me so well....give me my IV antibiotics did my leg ulcer for over 2wks
I'm really grateful to them they are an amazing team could not thank them enough.
My family member would lift all the rubbish/ kidney dishes filled with sick/ to try and make place a bit better.... shameful an ex member of your staff who had 31.5yrs service retired 3yrs ago had to put gloves on and do that!!!
Home Care Team are just amazing I had great confidence in them....felt really comfortable with them and put my full trust in them....sadly I can't say say about my experience in A&E
I'm now under GP nurse care and doing great...
Felt so sorry for people there that didn't have family to support them
My family are amazing.
"Time spent in A&E then with the Hospital at Home team"
