"Outstanding Service"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department University Hospital Hairmyres / Medicine for the Older Adult (wards 13 - 16)

(as a relative),

My elderly mum was admitted to Hairmyres Hospital East Kilbride recently with several health related issues.

She firstly was admitted to ward 14 then subsequently ward 15.

The care she received in both wards, including ambulance transport and A&E, was fantastic.

Even though they were very busy wards,  the nurses and doctors in both these wards were caring, dedicated and highly professional throughout.

Sadly my mum passed away, but once again, the love and care shown by every staff member made this a lot easier for my family and I.

I don’t remember all nurses and doctors names but from the ones I do remember, I would like to thank nurses Bessy, Theresa, Lauren (or Lorna) Angela and the fantastic Charge nurse who was on the day my mum died.

Also I’d like to thank the lovely male doctor who helped us make our decision in end of life care and to Doctors Nula and Christina for everything they did for my mum.

You are all angels and deserve far greater pay than you receive for the difficult job you have.

You are wonderful  human beings and thank you for everything

Dear Rossr,

Many thanks for taking the time to share your feedback here on CareOpinion. I am so sorry to read about your mum, please accept my sincerest condolences for what must continue to be a very difficult time for you and your family.

Thank you for your kind words about the staff involved in your mothers care, both from the Ambulance Service and our partners in the wider NHS. It is great to hear when the care delivered has such an effect on all those around. If you wish I can pass on the feedback to the our staff directly. To do so we would need to know the date, time and address that the Ambulance attended and your mothers name. This information can be sent to sas.feedback@nhs.scot for the team to pick up. If you do decide to do this, would you be so kind as to make reference to your CareOpinion username so that the team can easily locate your story and share it with the crew.

I wish you all the very best and our thoughts are with you all.

Kind Regards

Alan
