"My midwife clearly presented the options to me"

About: Yeovil District Hospital / Hospital Maternity Care

(as a service user),

My birth preference was for a natural vbac - however once my waters broke without contractions starting the plan needed to change.

I went into spontaneous labour but didn’t progress past 2cm dilated after 12 hours.

My midwife clearly presented the options to me and I felt induction was not the right route for me so went for an elective section. This was at 6pm so the risks were explained to me that it would be better to wait until the morning.

My midwife helped me get through the night with pain relief. At 4am my contractions were getting stronger and closer but at still 2cm dilated I was taken down for an emergency section.

The aftercare has been fantastic.

Congratulations on the birth of your baby and thank you for sharing your feedback with us. When your preferences around labour and birth change, it can be really challenging so I am really glad that we were able to support you through this, and your decision making, and also that you had such great aftercare.
