"Me and my wellbeing"

About: South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust / Condition Management Programme

(as the patient),

I was always a hairdresser for 40 years then I took a frozen shoulder. Had been my own boss for 20 years so when I then needed to work at something different it was hard to start. I always used my coping strategies that I knew as a child but when I tried to do some things different it wasn’t working. Fast forward to now: I have a different job and I enjoyed this role, it had a staring and finishing time, good holiday and a retainer when off which was great. When I first started I said nothing; but then I stood up for me and I hope for people struggling the same as me. I hit a wall earlier this year.

I have had help from my surgery and the mental health nurse, and was able to phone that day get an appointment and help that I needed as I had help before. The nurse talked to me and told me about this help and put me forward. A few months later I got the call and then another a few weeks later, to which I am so grateful, I had a chat with Ann  and was getting offered this help. I am so grateful as my anxiety and stress was not coping with what I knew in my mind and I wanted to stay in work not run away from these issues as I can’t run away from work place as I know know I need to be busy for my well being.

With the help and new ways of thinking  and not over thinking, it has helped me to accept new ways forward for my mental health and my journey. I love the tapping method it is so good and new ways of working out stuff in my mind to move forward. To have a service like this available and to be seen so quickly is great and I am moving forward to enjoy my time as it goes so quickly and to not overthink, get stressed and anxious.

Ann has been amazing and I am so glad that I was willing and wanting to change my thoughts and thinking about what hadn’t happened and won’t to be happy within. It is a wonderful feeling and if we are willing to change we can get there not just for now but long term in our future, slow and easy for as long as it takes.

Value yourself and your wellbeing, get fresh air, eat 3 meals a day, keep hydrated, enjoy and notice all of what makes us comfortable with in ourselves, take time out, and it’s ok to not be ok. Understand the feelings we have about ourselves and we are amazing good kind people. Try to push out.

I am making 2025 my year. Out walking again, recognising my own self as a wonderful person that I am and feeling the energy to move forward with a new journey and share this journey with people who I enjoy and love ❤️

Thank you for this service that is available to all who need it. When I started I felt my belly like a washing machine but with the help of Ann I have reached down and switched the button off. I will move forward and be forever grateful to have gotten help from the service and Ann. Thank you.

Dear cyclonecw57

Thank you so much for sharing your inspirational story which will resonate with so many people and provide hope that positive change is possible with improved health and wellbeing accessible with the right knowledge, skills and strategies. Your story will hopefully inspire other people with similar experiences to access the support and help available to address their health conditions and remain in employment within CMP.

Your experience has been shared with everyone in the Condition Management Programme including Ann and we really appreciate you taking the time to share the positive impact accessing the CMP has had for you.

Your language around you wanting and being willing to change are so important as it is you who has undertaken the sessions and the ongoing testing, trying and practising. As you have experienced it is a very active and often challenging process to learn and put into practice new ways of thinking and living your life. Your story really emphasises that you have developed a multitude of skills and self awareness enabling you to become your own therapist and to support your health and wellbeing in the the future.

Well done for everything you have achieved and all the very best for the future. Your story really captures your journey and all that you have achieved. We wish you well as your journey and adventure continues, keep doing all that you have learned and put into place.

Wishing you a very Happy New Year.

Best Wishes

Jane
