(as the patient),

I have been in a lot of pain and tingling in both hands for a good number of years.. I had been told it was carpel tunnel and that I would need surgery. But with Covid, I had to wait. I went to Musgrave for an appointment, and they told me it would be 3 months before I could get surgery, we agreed my left hand was worse as I am left handed  but that was fine as I had to waited for so long.. I felt relieved to be getting it done as I can't get a good sleep with it and pins and needles is awful every night.

My name is Dr Seamus O’Brien and I want to thank you for posting your story on Care Opinion.

I sincerely apologise for your distress with your symptoms while waiting on carpel tunnel surgery/treatment. I have already passed on your concerns to the Assistant Service Manager (ASM) in Musgrave Park Hospital who will in due course investigate your concerns and report back to you. I would like to speak to you by phone to help with this situation.

To enable us to fully investigate and respond to you - Please contact PatientExperience@belfasttrust.hscni.net and leave your patient details and contact number (ideally a mobile number) and the Facilitator will ensure this is passed to the ASM and myself.

I want to apologise for your negative experience and I will review your clinical records when I have your patient information and will ensure your comments are passed on to the relevant team for investigation. We will fully investigate and get back to you in a timely manner.
