The wards and corridors were all brightly decorated and the staff were wearing Christmas headgear, like antlers. Everyone was cheerful, kind, helpful, caring and efficient. In theatre I had a local anaesthetic and the theatre staff chatted to me throughout the operation, explaining all that happened. After a 4:30 am start to the day, I was home before lunchtime, which was great! I felt supported and content.
