Having worked all my life to then not being able to do the things I took for granted was hard to take . I still felt I could do everything as before , but that was not to be . It was the worst feeling that I had to just accept it. My experience with the occupational therapist was an eye opener.
I was made to feel better about myself and was given items to help me still do some of the things I loved doing . Like cooking, baking etc . My appointments with my occupational therapist cheered me up as I thought well I can still do most things , just maybe slower.
I was given tasks to help me see I wasn’t useless . I would enjoy my appointment as was always made to feel better for it. I know I can’t go back to do the job I did for 27 years but I was still useful to do other things . The pain I am in usually makes me feel down most of the time but now I can put things into place to get me back up to a bit happier.
I was a bit down about my last appointment, but was told I could refer myself again if need be .
