"The care my daughter had received was second to none"

(as a parent/guardian),

Hi. I just wanted to get in touch to emphasise how appreciative myself and my wife are following our daughter's recent stay in the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow.

We would like to say a massive thank you to the dream teams that are the nurses, doctors and staff in children’s A&E, CDU and especially Ward 2C where my daughter was admitted to for 7 days with RSV Bronchiolitis and was struggling to breathe, fast heart rate, high temps, couldn’t keep anything down and just generally unwell. She ended up needing fed through an NG tube and then onto IV fluids to help with her dehydration. Monitored closely to make sure she was progressing and getting better.

The care my daughter had received was second to none. The nurses, staff and doctors were absolutely outstanding with not only her but me and my wife too. They explained everything that they were doing and why, nothing was too much hassle.

I would like to give a special thanks to staff nurse ‘Niamh’ in Ward 2C also along with Chloe, Hayley, Kirsty and the 2 designated Bronchiolitis nurses Alex and Christy and also to anyone else involved with her care. We had a student nurse who was also called Niamh caring for our daughter and was finishing her placement that week and will make a great nurse. Her supervisor while on placement was ‘Niamh’ and I can see why.

In these hard times within the NHS sometimes nurses and doctors don’t get enough credit. I understand the severe pressures within the NHS at the moment and receiving such amazing care throughout our whole journey you wouldn’t notice the extreme stress that healthcare staff are under in these difficult times. They are superheroes and we can’t thank them all enough.

Thankfully our girl has made a full recovery and is home now for Christmas with her big brothers. I hope this message reaches the staff involved and they realise how appreciated they really are.

Dear Markth551

Thank you for taking the time to share your positive experience regarding the care that your daughter received from the team at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow.

I am sure this must have been a stressful and scary experience for you and your feedback will be shared with the hospital and Ward 2C.

Thank you for your kind words for staff nurse Niamh and other staff Chloe, Hayley, Kirsty and the 2 designated Bronchiolitis nurses Alex and Christy. I am sure they will be delighted to hear that your daughter is well and recovering at home with her brothers.

If you need any further assistance or support, please get in touch.

Kind regards

Lucy
