"Shocking treatment"

About: Altnagelvin Area Hospital / Ear, Nose & Throat

(as the patient),

The treatment I was given was absolutely shocking, they didn’t explain anything right, take notes of medication I was on or how the solution they were giving me would make me feel - I found them very patronising and didn’t take any of my concerns on board. I got the feeling they didn’t want to be there. Overall just awful care, one of the worst I have ever experienced.

Hello Alewq84,

My name is Emma and I am the Deputy Sister in OPD. Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. It is really important to hear and we take your feedback seriously. It is unclear if your experience occurred on the ward or in the Outpatient setting however I have shared your story with both medical and nursing staff in Outpatients highlighting the importance of good communication that is patients centred and is in a respectful and dignified manner. I am sorry to read that you did not feel listened to or that you felt your concerns were not taken on board. This is not what the experience we want our patients to feel. I do hope you are not discouraged to attend further appointments should you require them.

Kind regards
