I was lucky enough to get a live kidney transplant from my relative in mid Dec, 24.
I was admitted to 206 for one night and immediately felt the professionalism and caring nature of the whole team.
When I had the operation, I was admitted into HDU, 215. Again, the staff were all amazing, caring and very professional.
Although things went ok, they stagnated and the team of doctors, surgeons and nurses considered options. Although very complicated for a non medical person such as myself, everything was explained do thoroughly and slow, allowing me to digest the information and ask any questions. I am from a different health board as well and I know they were in constant contact with my usual team.
New, rather rare medication has been prescribed and things are looking positive so awaiting discharge as I write this.
I have my own faith in God but please also trust in the system and team around you. Stay positive and try take each day as it comes. Good luck to everyone on your own journey.
