"Water birth and pregnancy care "

About: University Hospital Lewisham

During my whole pregnancy the maternity team took very good care of me and my baby but i was still scared of giving birth, last week i had my first baby at the hospital, my contractions build up so quick that when i arrived at the hospital i was already fully dilated and unable to have an epidural as my baby was coming, the midwives quickly filled a pool so i could get some relief and have my baby in the water, i can not describe how grateful i am for the midwives who attended my delivery, the midwife (i would love to include her name but not allowed) kept telling me during my contractions that i was safe and where i was meant to be, that i was doing great and i just had to do whatever my body was asking me to do, hearing her voice during my pushing stage gave me the strength i needed and the calm to know i was in good hands, special thanks to her as i had a fantastic experience and felt safe the whole time.

After my delivery i was moved to a room and different midwives were taking an excellent care of us, i would love to give a special review to one of them in particular but this system does not allow me to include names . In resume, Lewisham Hospital has a really good maternity team, midwives are all amazing and experienced. Wonderful staff.

Dear Vanesa,

Thank you for taking the time in your busy new mum schedule to share your positive pregnancy and birth experience.

I am so pleased that you managed to use the birth pool for pain relief and to have felt safe with the midwives whilst you birthed your baby. It is always a delight to hear that we have listened to women/birthing people and that they felt safe to birth their babies in a supportive environment.

I have passed your thanks to the staff who cared for you.

Wishing you a very happy new year.

Lynn

Kind Regards
