It all started with a stool sample sent to Dundee screening unit, it came back with a positive result. I had a colonoscopy which showed I had a tumor and polyps - bit of a surprise but not overwhelming.
Within 2 weeks I had a meeting with Mr Proctor who brought me up to speed with results and treatment programme. 2 weeks later pre-op then had the op at Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy Fife. I was up and about next day and 2 days post op was allowed home.
The care I received has been outstanding, from the person who found the blood to the amazing colonoscopy team, the anaesthetist (great guy) and the team in the room, to the Surgical staff who apart from Mr Proctor I don't remember. Something to do with being unconscious.
The staff in the recovery ward and ward 44 can't thank them enough. I only wish I cold remember all the names. A special thank you to Jayne, who calls me every couple of days to check on progress.
I feel we need to stop bemoaning our health staff who work their socks off to do their jobs in sometimes impossible circumstances.
Thank you all.
