"Encouragement for my brother"

About: Specialist Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Services / Worcestershire Community Learning Disabilities Team

(as a carer),

We had the privilege of meeting Natalie after it was becoming apparent my brother was pulling his own teeth out, not through decay, stress was a large part as we had recently lost our father.

I believed he would never go to the dentist as years ago he was admitted to hospital and instead of taking 3 teeth out as planned they took 6 and my brother woke to find himself covered in blood, something he has never forgotten.

Instead of Natalie visiting and saying you must go to the dentist, she took time to be able to get to know him better, gain her trust and the visit at the dentist came about.

Natalie became our friend and someone we shall never forget for her role in my brother's life. She is an asset to the Disability team and cannot praise her enough.

Thanks Natalie x

Thanks you asteropexj97 for your feedback. We appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback for our service We are pleased to hear how your brother was successfully supported to the dentist by Natalie.

We have shared your kind feedback with Natalie, she responded as followed- It was a privilege to work with you both and I was very pleased that we could make a visit to the dentist a success together. I always strive to form a rapport and trust with all service users I work with, and from getting to know you as a family I was aware that you were experiencing some challenging times, I was happy to be part of success story and we worked well as a team. Thank you for your kind words and I wish you both the best for the future.

We hope future trips to the dentist are a success after this positive experience.

Many thanks

Lauren
