On Monday 16 December I took a relative for an appointment at the Urology department. I arrived at about 11.00am and entered the main car park. The barriers were up and no tickets were being issued. After the appointment, on enquiring at the security office I was told that I would have to queue at the one available office, to pay and receive a ticket to exit. There were at least 50 people in the queue, stretching across the car park and exit road. I had to queue for 20 minutes, in bad weather, to receive a ticket.
This is unacceptable. I have never been to Solihull Hospital before, but I hope that the system is being addressed urgently.
I have visited other hospitals where a “pay on exit” system operates effectively, entering the car registration which was scanned by camera on entry, paying the required fee, and receiving a ticket to exit.
Please add this to what must be a large number of complaints, in the hope that the parking ticket issue can be remedied as soon as possible. There were many patients and visitors in the queue, having a very unpleasant experience.
