I would like to express thanks to the staff in the bronchiolitis care team in ward 2c. My son was admitted following assessment in the clinical decision unit. The staff were very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions. They clearly explained all of the criteria that would need to be met before discharge and kept me informed of my son’s progress throughout our stay. They celebrated small wins e.g. taking his first feed without the NG tube, and seemed genuinely pleased to see him progress. This helped me to feel reassured that things were moving in the right direction.
I would like to acknowledge two nurses in particular. Aneesa was the first staff member I met when we moved to the ward. She was friendly and welcoming and sensitive to my needs as I was upset seeing my son distressed. She listened to me as I explained how I felt and showed great empathy. She has such a lovely manner with the children and is a credit to the team.
Another nurse was helping from the princess royal neonatal unit. It was her first time working in the ward but she was so efficient and quickly found her feet. She was really friendly and supportive and would always query anything she was unsure of as some of the protocols were different to what she adheres to in the neonatal unit. She even came back as her shift was ending to check in with us all to make sure we were doing ok. I felt she was very professional and although new to the ward I completely trusted her abilities.
Again, a big thank you to all of the staff in ward 2c bronchiolitis care team.
"A big thank you to all of the staff in ward 2c"
