"From admission to discharge I was given the very best of care"

About: Trauma & orthopaedics / Orthopaedic National Treatment Centre Trauma & orthopaedics / Orthopaedic Outpatient Service Victoria Hospital / Occupational Therapy Victoria Hospital / Orthopaedic Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) Victoria Hospital / Physiotherapy Victoria Hospital / Theatres

(as a service user),

Admitted to the ward (NTC) on October 7th 2024. From admission to discharge I was given the very best of care. Extraordinary staff who daily give all. I had a lengthy stay due to the nature of the operations, so bore witness to the workloads, dedication and professionalism of all the staff in the NTC.

The place is great, though in my opinion, staff were clearly not consulted at either the planning or construction stages. There are many areas of inaccessibility which need reviewed especially as they are contrary to the recommendations.

That aside, it's the people who made my stay easier to bear. There are so many I feel should be mentioned individually as without exception they played a part in my treatment and recovery.

Mr Dunstan. So skilled. Thank you so much for everything. The folk in charge... Briony and Tanya who have the respect and commitment of those working in their teams

The  fabulous group of ANP's who looked after me so beautifully. The lovely Jen, Debbie and Bronagh were especially involved but sincere thanks goes also to Lynsey ,Lynsey, Judith and Lorraine.

The nursing care i received was second to none and i genuinely have no words to express the gratitude i feel for those who made those days and weeks bearable. To the wonderful, kind, dedicated, good humoured, knowledgable Aimie, Victoria, Lauren, Guilia, Lorraine, Kerry, Clare, Nicky, Karen, Andreea, Nancy, Olu, Nicola, Lynsey, Lindsay, Beth, Lesley, Rosie, Cassy, Kelly, Morgan, Lorraine, Natalie, Natalia and student nurse Riza.... you have my sincere gratitude. Huge thanks are sent to the SWCA's.... such fabulous folk. Hard working , caring, efficient, skilled Susan, Mandy, Theresa , Davy, Chaz, Pauline, Trina, Becky, Ellis, Carly, Daniella  and Shalan.

I was lucky to have a room of my own and it was kept spotless by Susan, Leanna and Joel. Susan especially cheered me every morning with her winning, positive attitude.

My stay would have been so much more arduous without them so sincere appreciation, with accompanying hugs, goes to each and all of them

Gratitude goes to the Physio and OT teams who encouraged and cajoled some movement out of me. To the pain team too who returned after their helpful input. The amazing Theatre folk who calmed and supported, then came to visit following my 2 surgeries.

To the staff in Outpatients  Oh my goodness... so many days back and forth and you were always so helpful , kind and thorough. Thank you so much to

Audrey, Kelly, Kerry, Patsy, Sharon and Kerry.

I will inevitably have forgotten someone and for that I apologise but honestly NTC... You all have my thanks and as much praise as I'm able to express.

Dear Elaine11

Good Morning, It is Tanya the charge nurse of the ward. Firstly I apologise for the delay in my response. I do want to take the time to thank you so very much for your wonderful feedback of our staff and ward.

We as a team strive to provide the highest standard of person centred care to all our patient's. I am also delighted that throughout your stay with us that you witnessed the workload and professionalism from all of our staff as we aim to remain professional at all times.

I am apologise that you felt we have areas of inaccessibility within the department and I would be more than happy to discuss these with you to see if there is anything that we can do to improve on these areas. We are always looking for ways to improve our service and department for our patients and staff. I will post my contact details at the bottom if you wish to get in contact with myself or Briony.

Due to your lengthily stay with us I am pleased that you got to meet and interact with so many of our staff who you have mentioned by name. Firstly thank you for mentioning myself and Briony. We are very lucky to have such a wonderful team working with us and have such a committed and dedicated staff working with us to provide the highest standard of care for all of our patients.

For all of the ward staff that you have mentioned, again I will share this with them. I am honestly very pleased that all of these staff members helped to make your stay bearable with us as I know it was a long journey for yourself. As a manager it really delights me to hear that our staff kept you going on those days by being kind, dedicated, knowledgeable and of course having good humour as we all need a laugh throughout the days.

I will also share this feedback with our domestic staff as they all really do make a great effort to keep our department clean, tidy and looking spotless. There positive attitude is something that we all love to see.
