"Poor appointment instriuctions"

About: Countywide Community Care Service Delivery Unit / Podiatry Arrow Team

(as a parent/guardian),

Arrived at the incorrect medical centre in Evesham as the letter only states Evesham medical centre, no postcode or street name which would have been helpful. If we hadn’t of given ourselves plenty of time we would have been late for the appointment.

Receptionists were very welcoming and helpful at both venues.

Podiatry team explained the process very clearly and again were very pleasant.

Would have also been useful if the letter stated that we would need to bring some sliders or similar foot wear, as my son had to struggle back to the car park.

APPOINTMENT LETTER - VERY POOR

APPOINTMENT SERVICE- EXCELLENT

Thankyou for your feedback for the Podiatry Arrow team.

I am sorry that the address of the health centre was not on your appointment letter- I will raise this with the admin team.

I am not sure why it was not clear that your son would need accommodative footwear after surgery, this is something we usually advise on assessment.

The nail surgery leaflet you received does state " make sure you have footwear that is broad and deep, or with open toes, to allow room for the dressings "

I am glad you were happy with the service you received from our clinicians on the day of the surgery.

I will forward your comments to the team.

In response to your comments, we have discussed patient letters in our team meeting, and the importance of the address of the surgery location being full and clear.

In May we are moving to a new patient record system, which will make formatting patient letters less cumbersome and help the admin team avoid mistakes.

Regarding the need to bring slippers / sliders on the day of surgery, we are introducing QR code links, in the clinic, and on leaflets, so patients can access advice in another format, and it will be clear what to expect on the day of surgery.
