My brother is in his 50s, he has Down's Syndrome and early stage dementia. The social care he is receiving is quite frankly unacceptable.
At present he has 3 morning visits per week from a care agency. The carers on each occasion are in the house an average of 5 minutes. Their portal always says he is fine on leaving, whether this is the case or not. Social services now say they have to install tech devices in place of care.
I find this unacceptable and both my brother and myself are struggling with this situation.
He has been diagnosed by a physiatrist for mental health for learning difficulties who recommends more care is put in place .
The Speech and language therapist has also advised a carer should be with him at meal times as there is a choking risk. As sister and unpaid carer I am not equipped to care for someone with special complex needs.
I look forward to a response.
Thank you
