I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for Harriet, a midwife in the new Perinatal Pelvic Health Service. I gave birth five months ago and have been struggling with my stitches not healing from a second degree tear. I had GP and gynae appointments, and I felt like no one knew how to help me— I started to feel stuck and like things weren’t getting anywhere. Eventually I was referred to PPHS.
Seeing Harriet was a breath of fresh air. She was incredibly kind, made me feel comfortable, and truly validated my experience. I arrived feeling nervous, but Harriet’s compassion and professionalism put me at ease. She took the time to listen, addressed my concerns, was able to physically treat me on the same day, arranged thorough follow up, answered all my questions, treated me with dignity, and focused on me as a whole person.
I know this service is new, and I’m so glad it’s been created—it’s clearly making a huge difference already. Harriet was passionate about the service, and pelvic health in general which was infectious and reassuring. Her care was exceptional and she has given me hope, and I am so thankful for that.
"Incredibly kind"
