Was referred to the Pain Management service as I had severe chronic pain, for which the high dosage and volume of pain medication was not working.
I went in with an open mind about how Pain Management could help. I was seen by Fiona, who remained the physio throughout the process. When I saw the word physio, I thought I would be down the gym etc, but that was not the case. Fiona worked with me to identify pain triggers/cycles and helped me develop strategies to manage these. I had regular appointments with some progress made at each along the way. My medications were changed to allow my pain to become manageable, and managed to reduce some pain meds too!
18 months on, and I have had my final appointment with Fiona. I am now able to take regular exercise without it impacting my pain, and manage my pain to a much better degree, which has enhanced my quality of life. It has also boosted my confidence that I have learned the skills and techniques to self manage my pain moving forward.
If you are open minded about the process, and don't expect that the pain management staff will cure your pain, then this is the service that can help to enhance your life quality.
"Has enhanced my quality of life"
