About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Endometriosis Service Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Gynaecology (Ward 49)

(as a service user),

I had stage 4 endometriosis, affecting my bowel, ovaries and womb. I was in constant, debilitating pain for decades. After waiting several years for a hysterectomy, I had one in April 2024. Although it was a very long wait, the operation and following HRT treatment have completely changed my life. I am almost completely pain-free for the first time in over 30 years, I am back at work full-time and I'm able to enjoy exercise again (which I love!) Without this service, I would inevitably be unable to work and function well in every day life. The gynaecology unit and the endometriosis specialist clinic have been invaluable to me and I could not be more grateful.

Dear severitymf33,

I am sorry you have been in constant and debilitating pain for decades due to your endometriosis.

However, I am delighted to hear that despite a long wait, your operation and HRT treatment has changed your life. The fact you are back at work full-time and you are also able to enjoy exercise again - glad to hear you love it! - that without this service, you would inevitably be unable to work and function well in every day life.

I thank you sincerely for you spending the time to offer feedback on your experience.

I will share this with our fabulous gynaecology unit and the endometriosis specialist team that they have been invaluable to you and that you could not be more grateful.
