I had a bad fall and had to go to the Minor Injuries Clinic in Dunfermline. There they took an X-ray and found I had fractured my pubic rami. I was in a lot of pain. I had to be transferred to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.
Unfortunately because Victoria Hospital was so busy I had to stay overnight on a trolley in the Minor Injuries Unit. I was transferred to Victoria Hospital the next morning.
Although this was a difficult experience for an 87 year old woman, I wanted to write to praise all the staff I saw and dealt with over the two days. Sitting at my daughter's home with my hospital-provided Zimmer frame, I am full of nothing but gratitude for how helpful and interested all the nurses were in making me comfortable and pain-free.
Their professional approach, kindness, and involvement was so reassuring. Although they were busy, they still managed to make me feel that they really cared about me as an individual... and all done with a sense of humour which really helped me.
I hope you will pass this information onto Esther (who I understand is in charge of all the nurses).
