"High Potassium Levels in Blood"

About: Western Health & Social Care Trust / Nutrition and Dietetics Service

(as the patient),

I am a Diabetic and had a pain in my side which resulted in me getting various blood tests. This identified that I had high levels of potassium in my blood tests. My Doctor referred these to the Renal Consultant, who in turn arranged for Twyla (Renal Dietitian) to contact me by telephone to investigate my Diet.

I must say that Twyla was extremely helpful and considerate and explained the various Food & Drink categories that were high in potassium, some of which took me by surprise. I then received follow up e-mails that include a substantial list of Low Potassium Diet Items and which ones to avoid, which I found extremely helpful. I am really appreciative of her intervention and advice, which will hopefully assist with reducing my potassium blood levels.
